Known as the cortex, the neocortex, the cerebral cortex, the cerebrum, the pallium, and the neomammalian brain. "Cortex" means "bark" like on a tree, because this brain surrounds the smaller older ones. We have other "cortexes" that are things that surround other things.
Has four lobes:
- Frontal lobe, in front
- Temporal lobe, on the bottom. Temporal means time
- Occipital lobe, in back. Means "back of head"
- Parietal lobe, on top. Parietal means forming a wall
They all do lots and lots of things and overlap a lot. They're pretty reprogrammable in that way.
